  The Golden Hour

Every minute matters in a cardiac emergency.

In a heart attack, time = muscle. The faster you reach a cath lab, the more of your heart we can save — and the closer you get to a full recovery.

0–60 min
The Golden Hour
Reach a cath lab within 60 minutes of symptom onset and primary angioplasty can fully restore blood flow — often with no long-term damage.
Best outcome
60–180 min
Still treatable
Treatment is still effective but some heart muscle damage is unavoidable. Recovery is slower; long-term medication usually needed.
Partial damage
3+ hours
Significant damage
Major heart muscle is lost. Risk of heart failure, dangerous rhythms & long-term complications rises sharply.
High risk
<90 min our typical

FAQs

Everything you wanted to ask, answered honestly.

What's the difference between angiography and angioplasty?

See a cardiologist if you have chest pain or pressure, shortness of breath, palpitations, sudden dizziness or fainting, persistent leg swelling, or unexplained fatigue. You should also screen preventively if you're age 35+ with family history of heart disease, diabetic, hypertensive, smoker, or have high cholesterol — even without symptoms. Routine screening catches problems years before they become emergencies.

Is angioplasty painful? Will I be awake?

Angioplasty is performed under local anaesthesia — you'll be awake and able to talk to the cardiologist through the procedure. You feel the prick of the needle at the access site (wrist or groin) but no pain inside. Most patients are surprised how easy it is. You're back on a normal floor bed within an hour and home within 1–2 days.

How fast can your cardiac ambulance reach me?

Typical response time within Mansarovar, Pratap Nagar and Vaishali Nagar is 10–15 minutes. Our cardiac ambulance is dispatched the moment you call — advanced life support equipment, defibrillator, oxygen, drug box and ACLS-trained paramedics on board. The cardiologist at the hospital is briefed before you arrive, so the cath lab is ready by the time you reach.

Are cardiac procedures covered by my insurance?

Yes. Cardiac procedures — angiography, angioplasty, pacemaker, CABG — are covered by most insurers. Suvira is empanelled with 30+ insurers including Star Health, HDFC ERGO, ICICI Lombard, Bajaj Allianz, Niva Bupa, Care Health, plus CGHS and ESI. Our TPA team handles pre-authorisation, approvals and discharge billing end-to-end. Bring your card & ID — we do the rest.

I'm having chest pain right now. What should I do?

Call our cardiac emergency line: +91 14148 64100. Don't drive yourself. Sit or lie down. If you have a previously prescribed angina spray or sorbitrate, use as instructed. If aspirin is not contraindicated for you (no allergy, no active bleeding), chewing 300mg can help. Our ambulance will reach you — treatment begins on the way to the hospital. Every minute matters.

What is the door-to-balloon time at Suvira?

Door-to-balloon (DTB) is the time from arrival at the hospital to the moment the balloon opens the blocked artery during primary angioplasty for a heart attack. International guidelines target <90 minutes; our typical DTB is under 90 minutes. With our hot line to the cath lab from the ambulance, we often beat this comfortably.

How long is recovery after angioplasty?

Most patients are discharged within 1–2 days. Back to desk work in 1 week. Light walking from day 2–3. Driving at 1 week. Heavy lifting and intense exercise from 4–6 weeks onwards. Lifelong medication (blood thinners, statins, BP control) and regular follow-up. Cardiac rehab significantly improves long-term outcomes — we'll guide you through it.

What does a cardiac health check-up include?

A standard cardiac check-up at Suvira includes a cardiologist consultation, ECG, 2D Echo, lipid profile, blood sugar and BP/BMI assessment. For age 40+ or family-history cases we add TMT (treadmill stress test), ambulatory BP monitoring & cardiac risk markers. The cardiologist sits with you afterwards to review the report and build a personalised plan — lifestyle, medication or further testing if needed.
